The Lotus

Friday, June 18, 2010

An inhospitable muddy pond sat in the wilderness; plain and barren. Observing this pool of mud, no one expects any life to flourish in these in hostile conditions. However, one’s mentality changes by the sight of this unique flower which surpasses all expectations.

The lotus blooms where no plant can survive. With its petals vibrant red, it creates a contrast with the dark background that surrounds it. As a result, this flower is always hunted by daring photographers who are willing to trek the swamps to get a shot of this profitable setting. In addition, it is also favored for its medicinal properties. Although the flower of the lotus is not much of a use to Chinese Medicine, its seeds are valued for its healing properties and as a popular dessert among the Chinese.

I have always admired the lotus; partly because it tastes really good when cooked as a soup. The ability to thrive in an inhabitable place is what gained my respect for these humble flowers. I believe that there is a slight possibility that the mud, in which the lotus anchors itself into, is the cause of its beauty. In our lives, we choose the “clean” and easy route to success. Protected by the four walls of home and school, we are pampered to the extent that we become “greenhouse cultivated” people. The lotus, on the other hand, are exposed to the five elements of nature; fire, water, wind, air and DIRT. They are on their own in the wild. For the lotus, it is either live or die. We still have a net to catch us when we fall. When its time for the lotus to bloom, it emits the dazzling colours it's been hiding but only shows it to those who wish to see. It's the result of years of fighting. However, we sometimes fail to bloom as we do not try hard enough as a mentality of being saved again is instilled in us.

So are you a lotus?

"X" Marks the Spot

Monday, January 4, 2010

If I asked you what does "treasure" mean, what would you say? Would your answer revolve around gold, money, fame??? Or would it be a huge old chest you dig out from the ground? So what is your view about this commonly used noun?

I believe that "treasure" means the tiny bits of details in your life that make life so wonderful. Even the ability to run around freely with no restrains could be a treasure to someone who has artificial limbs. Cherish what you have in life. Don't take anything in life for granted. Especially your friends. I have experienced a lot of situations of friends not acting the way they should be. I think I have disappointed someone today and I would like to apologise for my actions.

My sister, 9 this year, was watching a show on disney channel. I asked her to turn the damn tv off because I was studying. Unfortunately, my sister ignored my request and I was distracted by the noise the electrical appliance was amplifying out! Ironically, I was grateful that my sister ignored my request! Suprisingly, I found a very important moral that can only be expressed by a paragragh below:

******************************************************************

The greatest treasures

Are not gold

Are not jewels

Nor works of art

They cannot be held in your hands

they are held within your heart

For worldly things will fade away

A seasons come and go

But the treasure of TRUE FRIENDSHIP

Will never loss it's role

Time Travellers

Saturday, January 2, 2010

I use to watch shows that involve the main character travelling back in time. Although it may sound stupid, I really admire this type of people because they have the ability to make their life damn perfect. If they done something wrong, all they need to do is press a button or two and poof! A second chance just appears right in front of them. Well, that's as far as the movies would show us about this fantasy.

However, when it comes to reality, we are sometimes faced with “life-changing” decisions. Whether to go or to stay? Whether to fight or to retreat? Whether to love or to hate? These decisions we face are so important that they alter the course of everyone's life. I have realised that in the year 2009, I haven't been correct for most of the time.

- I chose to be relaxed and not focus in my studies.
- I chose to “fall into the death pit". (See my previous post to know what I’m talking about)
- I chose to be an ass hole towards a good friend of mine. :(

These pointers are only the tip of the ice-burg compared to the amount of mistakes I made last year. However, out of the wrong doings I made, I am confident to say that i have done at least something right. To change! To be who I used to be! To be me! OMG! The intensity of emo-ness is beyond extreme! Haha. I'm only writing from the heart, that's all. Oh, and if your hair in standing already, I'm very sorry. :)

Okay, I'll continue. So if only I can turn the needles of the clock and go back to the start of the year 2009, then I would know how to deal with all of the problems I face appropriately. Now, I got another bigger problem. HOW THE HELL DO I GET A TIME MACHINE???
********************************************************************
TIME
Time goes fast
Time goes slow
Time sees people die
Time sees the grass grow
Time does not forget
Time does not forgive
Time crushes and kills
Time takes all you have to give
Time rushes past
Time ticks and tocks
Time is shown by the sun
Time is on the kitchen clock
Time tells you what must be done
Time doesn't wait for anyone
Time is impatient
Time is kind
Time is cruel
Time doesn't mind
Time is a second
Time is forever
Time is right this minute
Time is now or never

Prevention is Better than Cure

Friday, January 1, 2010

Hey! I painted my house today! In fact, these few days I have been painting the ceiling in my house. Because the paint is peeling and my dad wants to do something about it. :) he said it was something about water leaking from the concrete. Oh, concrete is poress!

Okay, I have been talking to Rytha and she told a a lot of stuff about her break up and her life story. She seriously sounded like she was nagging at me! haha, just joking la. No hard feelings. :) I tried to listen to her story although I was on the verge of floating to my dream land. However, I had no regrets because I learnt a lot from her. She opened up another way for me to view the world; another perspective. If you guys want to know what I told her, I am utterly sorry that I am unable to leak out this personal infomation. The only thing I can tell you is that she break up with her BF.

I then added a satement, "relationships are very dangerous and fragile." I know this very well ever since I faced the same situation as her. That's why never get into a relationship at this stage in life. If your heart is broken, it takes a long time for it to recover. Rather than waiting for you or your lover to end this ( because I can bet you at this stage in life it will ), why not play safe and don't fall into that death pit? It's just like water and paint. If you allow water to touch paint, one fine day, it will peel and eventually "break apart". When your parents say don't engage yourself in this type of this now, they have a reason.

It is better to try to keep a bad thing from happening than it is to fix the bad thing once it has happened.
